Brembo help

Hi All,
I need a bit of help with selecting bits please.
I have a period 5 race bike up and running and it has a single FRONT Brembo fixed disc and 08 caliper, braided line and a master cylinder which I have measured the piston from.
The piston mid length measures 12.4mm and the seals suggest the bore is probably 13mm.
Problem is the lever travel is close to zero and the feel is very dead. It works ok but I reckon it needs a smaller diameter master cylinder. What size should work best?
It needs to be period.
I just added a new braided cable so if the thread is the same it would be a good thing. I guess Brembo all fit but Japanese won't?

I know there are some pretty clued up people on here who have been on this path before so please fire away.
Next race is the Southern Classic in 6 weeks so I am keen to strike this off the to do list.
Cheers

Hi, Russ.

The single disc combined with a 08 caliper needs the 12mm pump.
Guzzi used that for the right front brake, which is not part of the
combined system (left front and rear brake are operated by the
pedal) and it works well.

Russ,

A wooden feel at the M/C is usually a result of perished caliper seals.  Renew the seals and feel will return.  Failing finding a 12mm item, your 13mm M/C should be quite OK with a single 08 caliper.

Only japanese make that I know of that used the Brembo M10 x 1 thread is Suzuki, and only for a short period.  M10 x 1,25 thread is almost universal on jap brakes.

I assume you are using swaged threaded fittings not banjos.
Please forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but if you could get one fitting changed to banjo
you could use any thread for the price of the relevent banjo bolt.

Thanks for the replies.
I have all new swaged threads for Brembo assume 10x1mm. New braided line, new master cylinder rebuild kit, new 08 caliper rebuild kit, new galfer green racing pads and crap wooden feel.

Amongst any other issues you may have with it. Check there is suffucient free play between the cam on the brake lever and end of the piston.
Finally a very personal thing, dump the original style  lever for a Dogleg . I'm amazed when I put my average hand  on a Laverda with levers that are 90 odd mm from the bar. You can usually adjust the span my removing metal from the cam and setting the reach on the small grub screw. All incremental changes can make an average brake much better.

Thanks everyone.
I have absolutely all the modifications and parts you guys suggested so seems like I am out of options so ordered an 11mm master cylinder. I am thinking it will give some travel while increasing fluid pressure.

I will let you know the results in a week or two.
Cheers
