There has been some discussion about pad thickness and Shaved callipers.
Shaved P08 were std on Ducati 900SS from about 77 to 78 when they changed to Gold Calipers. Thats said as with anything Ducati you take dates with a pinch of salt as they were built from parts bins and if there was set of old shaved calipers at the bottom of the bin in 79 you got them fitted on your new bike :) ...ask me how i know..lol

As it happens i am spending Xmas ever just refurbishing a set for a customer so here is one in fresh Cerakote.

The calipers were shaved on the outside faces front and back removing the logo, putting a flat on the nipple casting

The side faces were also shaved seen here alongside a new P08 single nipple

The inside faces were shaved 1mm each so the gap for the disc and pads was only reduced by 2 mm overall

Also note the lip that would have held the pad cover is removed and the countersink for the cap heads was deeper so although there are only 2mm narrower they use a 45mm bolt instead of the std 50mm bolt

These early black calipers were also fitted with Teflon coated alloy pistons while contemporise at the time still had chromed steel pistons
The only people i know that still do pads for these are Ferodo , they are 7mm thick instead of the std 9-9.5mm and in stock
these are now worth a lot of money so if you have3 set on your lav consider early retirement :-)

Sorry, this is not Laverda but the question was asked on another thread. Basically, if your pads don't fit its highly likely your disc is too thick.

Yes you are right Gert, i forgot they kept the old Halo reservoir in 75 but not the halo calipers., well spotted :)

Yes, I,ve posted this about the Brembos on a 74 750SF I recently purchased. The rotors are 7mm thick w/ no brand stamping and the 9mm thick Sureflex pads barely squeeze in. Others have told me this is normal but I disagree as this will cause premature wear and drag on the rotor and I,ll order thinner shaved pads from Paddy. Bevel Heaven also confirms the shaved Brembos needing thinner pads.
