Build Date

Here's another question for the knowledgeable.

How do I determine the build date, (as opposed to the registration date) of my Mirages? One on an 80 plate, one on an 82 plate. Both originally TS Mirages.

Can I get away with a black and silver plate on either, (the plate on the 80 one I used for Willeresy is now somewhere between Tewksbury and Newport, having discovered it AWOL when I got home on Sunday.) :-(

If they are registered as historic they can have a black number plate as far as I know.
Well I know nothing senor....

Hi. Have you looked on Laverdamania 180/1200 registry?
It's pretty good at dating frames and motors in my experience.

If its any consolation, you weren't the only one.
I lost my garmin satnav going up Fish hill.
By the time I back tracked 2 miles, one or more of the 50 vehicles had run over it.

Currently awaiting a new tft screen at £20 and a proper cradle fitting.

pull the cylinder head off, build date is stamped on the bottom fin and also on the top fin of the barrel

Registered before January 1980 and must be on the historic dvla data base.
Black and white number plate etc

It’s a rolling 40 years for historic registration.
