Exactly right Tom. It's a Ceriani-style plate modified to work with a Marzocchi lower triple clamp. But the modification dosn't appear to have been done particularly well. It looks as if the tags welded onto the stop plate only just make contact with the lugs on the Marzo triple clamp. I reckon the minimal contact area has likely chewed the edges of the alloy lugs away enough for the stop not to be effective.
Carlo. It's easily fixed by removing the stop plate from under the steering head and building up the stop tags in both height and thickness. Another job for your friendly welder.
You can work out how thick the lugs need to be by sticking a knob of plasticine on them. Squirt a bit of WD40 on the triple clamp so it won't stick to the plasticine, then turn the steering to where you want it to stop each side. It'll squish the plasticine to where the stops need to be. It may be different each side. You can work out how high the tags need to be by looking at the overlap (or lack of it) when they contact the triple clamp. You want the maximum area contact you can get. Once you have it figured out, take that info to your welder.
