I will be heading to Cadwell on Sunday for the classic racing , if any forum members are going too and fancy a cuppa in exchange for some Laverda chat that would be great !

Hi Gareth,
Possible the way forward is to use a larger diameter swinging arm spindle. The swinging arm may even accept a (fairly) modern Japanese 20mm spindle! I use a Spindle from a Kawasaki ZX6R 1998 - 02 model, length 325mm 20mm on the TT1, I also boxed in the frame around the swinging arm spindle holes, to add strength .

Thanks mate. The 14mm spindle on this bike is not up to the rigours of Cadwell Park. The previous owner had the spindle snap so he made one from high tensile steel that I managed to snap at Mallory last March. My replacement came from a box of Montjuic bits (they share the same pivot bolt...), but I find that it has stretched.

Phil Todd told me the SFC racers have a 17mm bolt and that he's modded previous SF frames to accommodate the increased size - I'll do that. The two mounting brackets on the LHS had cracked previously and were badly welded back on, and with my swing arm issue, and the sub frame breaking off in race 3, it is time to get the frame properly sorted over the winter.
