Calendar photo of my 79 1200 Mirage

Dymag, just before they went Bankrupt, think that happened more than once, were prototyping Carbon rims for spoked wheels. They were pure horn.

What a brute! That Boba? full carbon fiber set & custom wheels adds a bit of menace-
yes, the carbon bodywork from Boba maybe 15 (?) years ago. The carbon is clear coated and has held up well

headlight shell, front fender, rear fender, rear tail both outer and inner, tool box tray, chain guard, both 1200 side panels, and the masterpiece of the fuel tank, top modified to accept a flat aircraft type filler and vent.

I hand made the striping and swooshs from gold vinyl sheet, with assistance of my spouse..

note the Laverda Forum badges on the side covers........

new and wider old stock Astralites and adaptors from Wolfgang many years ago, as well as many parts from Wolfgang over the years.

recent new full exhaust system from Malcolm Cox

Still running John Wilson's brilliant IIS digital ignition and charging system from, what, 20 + years ago, has been flawless.

I have had this bike since 1999 and is why I started an MSN forum in 1999 which eventually after many twists and turns and involvement of many other people morphed into this current Laverda Forum. This bike was the genesis........

This bike has also been lent out several times to various Laverda Forum members come to visit western Canada, for laps of western Canada. Two memories stand out.

First, me trying to outrun Steve Battison somewhere around Nakusp, B.C.. Steve B, him on this 1200. me on my highly modified RGS, (overbored 1200 barrels, high comp JE pistons, Carillo rods etc. ) High speed twisties, I knew the road and Steve didn't, I was riding flat out at stupid speed, thought I would have lost Steve, then was startled to realize he was right on my shoulder, flat out, bloody hell....... Obviously, a much better rider than I am

Second, Martin Cutler (Marty Moose), ten years ago. rode with him for a while, first lent him a Moto Guzzi, then this 79 1200. Sent him off on his own on the Laverda 1200 for a several day lap of western Canada. Bike left on new tires. Came back on still smoldering bald tires, obviously well enjoyed and well ridden..... Great fun!
