my 1979 1200 Laverda and my 1957 Gilera 150 on display this past weekend as part of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group (CVMG), Rocky Mountain subsection 20 vintage motorcycle display . The Calgary Motorcycle Show is making a comeback post CoVid, but still not yet back to pre CoVid standards or size.

I volunteered at the CVMG display for most of the weekend, very few people know what either a Laverda or Gilera are.

bringing the bikes home at show end Sunday evening on an open trailer at roughly minus 30 Celsius was less than ideal.

Beautifully presented, Paul. We'd expect nothing less. What temp does petrol freeze at?! -30 on the trailer - poor bikes! We've just had three days of 38-40 degrees in Melbourne.

Like them but yes, no weather protection. I’ve got a 6’x12’ enclosed that takes 3 full size bikes, quite nice for wi there escapes, but a bit of a pain to park the thing.

The previous show in Metro Vancouver ( Abbotsford Airport Tradex ) , run by a new company from ‘back east’ showed their huge incompetence in running a show of any kind. But as you mentioned, it’s getting better since the bat flu lockdown.

I have nowhere to park an enclosed trailer or I would have one instantly. I have the foldable Marlon you see in the photo at the bike show tear down. The back third folds up, then the entire trailer stands on end for storage. Tows nicely, load floor is low. I added perimeter LED lighting and several additional e track tie down points. The trailer sits outside on the edge of my driveway when not in use. I have been debating figuring out how to add a front diamond check plate to it that would still allow it to fold up but have not figured that out yet.

When my spouse Diane bought her 2024 Can Am Spyder last year it was too big to fit on the Marlon trailer. I checked with the City and bylaw folks and there was no way they would let me keep an enclosed trailer on my property, but oddly enough they allowed me to keep an additional low open trailer, so last summer I bought a brand new Canadian made "Rainbow" brand open landscaping trailer, its deck is 7 feet by 12 feet, and has an attached heavy duty open mesh drop loading tail/ramp. I have added a 3 ft aluminum check plate front to it, and full length lower sides, plus a lot of e track, a front trailer storage box, and I am about to add a 12 volt loading winch to it. The Rainbow trailer is a lot bigger and a LOT heavier than the Marlon trailer so I still use the Marlon for bikes unless I need to bring Diane's Spyder as well.

Diane and I used the larger "Rainbow" trailer last year to tow to Kaslo area, park and unload, and rip around Kaslo, Nelson, Nakusp etc. for ten days, then loaded back up and trailered home. Andy Higgs has organized another gathering out of Kaslo area for the second week of July 2025 again if you are interested? Contact Andy Higgs or myself for details, a great time was had by all last year and it is many of the same folks who attended Wolfgang's over the years.

A few of my old Trail Riding buddies had enclosed trailers. They are painfully to move and park. My 5 x 8, another non metric thing. No metric trailers apparently hot-dipped gal trailer is so easy to park and lives in my backyard rust-free. But we dont get 30c below zero, I might do inclosed at that temp.
