Calling RGS / RGA owners with DMC1, Witt ignition

My, new to me RGS has a DMC 1 ignition, and it is currently running Curve 2. From what I can find, the 120 triples seem to run best with a flat curve. Can those of you running the DMC1 please tell me which curve you have settled upon, and why? Thanks in advance!
Steve
P.S. As an aside, are these bikes inherently intense vibrators? Mine vibrates very unpleasantly both through the pegs and the bars.

Steve,

Cannot help you with DMC setting. Yes they do Vibrate.......but just check fixings on isolastic engine mount blocks.
The rubber in these engine mounts is getting close to 40 yrs old !

The vibration shouldn't be too bad. Like Hooksey said, new mounts may help but definitely look for other causes too.
There's a couple of searchable threads regarding replacements for the original silentblocs, they're not that easy to find apparently. Let us know how you get on, or if you're putting in a bulk order ;)

The main point of the 120 engines was to reduce vibration. My RGA Jota has always seemed pretty smooth. Are you sure it's running on three cylinders? A compression check is easy. Where in the rev range is the vibration? I'm using curve 10 on the DMC now, used 11 in the past, but I never really tried to determine an optimum curve for my riding. I have to admit that it seemed to run just as well on the original ignition system as on the Witt.

Will be able to help you on both counts. Curve 2 is fine, ran my RGS on that for years.
Shouldn't vibrate as much as you say. check carb balance, when mine started to tingle I knew it was time to tweak the carbies.

Just a reminder we're talking DMC1 here, not 2. Attached image shows that the usual curve 10 on a DMC2 (which a lot of us use to good effect on the 120 engine) almost matches curve 1 on DMC1. Curve 2 only gives 26 degrees max advance, assuming the base setting is correct. The only difference is that DMC1 drops full advance at 8500 rather than 9k. You can play yourself with the spreadsheet that Cam created - it's in the library.

Always worth checking the silentbloc to frame mountings, in particular the one near the rear drive sprocket. The factory issued a notice on this.

So what was in the said factory notice Rob ??

Thanks ksoholm. I'm learning from above reply's that curve 10 on a Gen2 corresponds closely to curve 2 on the Gen1 unit, which I have. As soon as I get a delivery of parts from Wolfgang, I'm going to start tuning from ground zero: valve check/adjust, carb sync., check timing etc. Hopefully that will result in better manners.

That's because you guy's have the second generation which has many more curve options, about 15 or so. I have the first generation which "only" has 8 curves to choose from.

and the published curves are not what is incorporated inside the DMC's.... mapped a cross section of the curves many years ago.... more the matter of how it feels for your country and riding style, at days end, let alone state of engine tune....j.
