Can anyone identify this frame??

Hi, Can anyone on the forum please help identify this mystery frame for me?  I've been told it was originally built as a race frame to house a Laverda triple, so immediate thoughts were Motodd or Harris, but googling pics of them don't seem to match.  Not sure the tank matches the frame either!

Any ideas folks?
Chris

Looks like it has elements of a Rob North frame, but maybe it's a home made effort?

Could be this one resurfaced

Bloody 'ell that was fast!!   suitably impressed

So was the verdict that it was a modified Peckett and McNab frame - probably a Z1 thing?

Chris

ps sorry couldn't access the old ebay ad to see what it sold for

I would agree. Slightly modified perhaps.

Not in my opinion. Just maybe P&M - but look at the swingarm pivot mounts on this one.
A problem for me is the very narrow front mounts - which don't look to have been moved. i don't know of a jap four with narrow front mount bosses - everything I can think of is full width...Including big Z's.
Can i suggest it may well be a home build for a triple - which has had the rear mounts moved to try and fit something else...

The mystery continues...I think you're right Greg, now you've posted a pic of a bare P&M frame, its more obvious that this one is a lot different - the frame loops back to the headset on the P&M, whereas it is a simple underloop on the mystery frame.  Apart from that, the bracketry is of a more refined design.

The mystery frame looks like it has been modded - the seat rail looks like it has been cut and welded lower for some reason.  I suspect all the bracketry is a later home made addition too.

It would be interesting to see it repaired and properly set up for a triple engine - it is certainly substantial enough to handle the power well.

I understand the current owner is considering selling it, but I don't have any idea of a price.

Basically, my 3C project is at my mate's workshop to have the 3 into 1 mated to the SFC silencer I got from Phil.

A bloke wandered into his workshop (as in all the best stories) and said "I've got a Laverda frame and tank that I bought as a racer project years ago".

I posted the pics in an effort to see if anyone could tell me what the frame was, as I didn't really have a clue despite hours of internet searches.  I'm not looking for (yet another) Laverda project myself  ::)
