carb balancing question

Good idea, Keith.

Haven't got a cover bad enough to warrant cutting it.... weigh up in gold these days!

No oil mess??

And here's me thinking "Keith's gone and built a new trick alternator for the MkIIs" :D

Hello, I'm going to order a carbtune gauges for balancing my 1200ts carbs. I supose that I have to buy a 4 row one.
But I don't know , where to connect this tubes. because as I know, there are not screws on Intake Manifold.

Thanks, Martin

Hi Martin,

Take offs are here (sometime blanked but rarely). Remove the balance pipe and fit your gauges.

Martin, before ordering your carbtune gauges have a look at these http://davida.co.uk/type.php?id=gauges
Slightly more expensive but in my opinion superior.

Jah, to late. I have allready ordered them.  Unfortunately, bacause Davida look more profesionall than carbtune.
Here are  http://www.vcustoms.co.uk/motorbike_14_vacuum-gauges---gauge-system-3_14.html  , and cost  "only" 20 pounds more.
I hope that carbtune will be good to.

I have another question.
I'm going to order  Inlet manifold rubbers  and Carburettor Gasket Sets for my bike.
What do you think of this:
rubbers  -  http://beedspeed.com/product_info.php?products_id=1476
gaskets  -  http://beedspeed.com/product_info.php?products_id=4805

my bike is 1200ts y.1982  carbs phf 32

Thanks, Martin

ok, I will ask in different way!!

I need to buy 3 new inlet rubbers, 3 o-rings(cylinder-alloy inlet) , and 3 sets of gaskets for carburator phv-a 32.  I need to rebuild may carbs.
Has anybody any information, where to buy this things, original, and human price.  In laverda paradies they have all this, but the prices are a litle bit high.
Has anybody bought this things recently?

Thanks, and sorry if i'm annoying

Hello,
I will ask here, rather than open a new topic.

I'm on rebuilding a set of carbs phv 32, which I have on stock. I will try to fit them on my bike. I ordered new gasket kits, inlet rubers, Inlet orings, I cleaned them ultrasonicly. The things that bothers me, are the slides. They are not in very good shape. What you think, if I whet(Grinding) them wit a paper number 800 or 1000. Can I destroy them?  I put the photos down here:

Thanks

They all kinda look like that, as long as they slide nice and free in the body they should be OK, if need be knock any high spots off with some fine paper 800/1000, but only vey gently, you are not going to make a worn thing better by making it smaller...make sure all of the abrasive is removed before fitting. Worn slides are not ideal but the wear will only really manifest itself at very low throttle openings and can be compensated for by adjusting mixture screw settings.
Keep the old Dells going a bit longer while you save up for some nice Mikunis.

Hi all,

I've got a set of the Morgan carbtunes, but they're gathering dust because I made one of these:

http://www.powerchutes.com/manometer.asp

I balance one side against the centre carb, and then the other. It seems more accurate too, and it costs nought.

I modified the design slightly so there is a pipe between the tops of the tubes so if a carb is way out of sync it doesn't suck the fluid into a cylinder (I use ATF). As the carbs is brought more into sync, you can pinch off the tube for greater accuracy.
