To set mixture on an sf or gt Del lorto squareslide you start by screwing in mixture all the way. Then back off 1 & 1/2. If I am @ 600 ft above sea level would this be ok? then what about the square slide screw on top? I have it set about half way in. Have no idea where it should be set....
Timing chain tensioner is ready to go on. Noticed there is an o ring in the manual. Old one was thrown out decades ago. If it goes on the inside tensioner rod I do not see anything that would keep it in place...

No need to take into account 600 feet or 600 metres for that matter on the mixture screws. Around 1 1/2 turns out is the base setting after which you can twiddle a bit when the engine is warm.
The cable stop screw on the top is part of the synchronising process. Screw them right in and then check that your slides disappear in the top of the carb at the same time when turning the throttle. Adjust on the cable stop screws.
Finalise on the slide stop screw for tickover.

There is an O ring on the cam chain tensioner rod. I don't remember how it fits.

O-ring sits in a slot inside the hole in the tensioner body - can be hard to get the oldie out - I use a stainless bicycle spoke bent at the tip and sharpened to a flat. Old o-rings will be hard and brittle and can be cut with the blade bit first.

Pull the plug on one side, screw up the idle on the other and screw the mixture in and out to get the best running. Then do the same on the other side
