By the way - my Jota has your stamp on it (MTD 12 on the top case, by the starter motor....wonder what that means

Hi Pete - We did that on all the 1000's we converted to 1200's - well most of them anyway - some were stamped on the cylinder head - probably not the brightest of ideas come to think of it! - regards - Phil

When men were bold
And women weren't invented
Men had to drill holes
In telegraph poles
And had to be contented

Hi Phil,

That did make me laugh....yes, cylinder head is not the best place to put it. Where it is on mine (top case) is perfect. I didn't even notice it when I bought the bike, although the owner did tell me you had carried out a 1200 conversion.  Must confess, I was chuffed to find it there, as the bike is such a lovely unmolested one and carries all it's history well. I will not be restoring it one bit (not that it needs it and it would be criminal to shine away all the history) - really lovely old girl and just the same as my first Jota (albeit in better condition, despite being 20 odd years older !!)

The previous owner was a smashing bloke and we spent a great couple of hours chatting. Not 12 months between us on age - amazing how bikes bring people together.....

Cheers Pete

Are you sure it's a 1200 sounds more like a couple of 120 owners?  :D

There once was a bloke in need, for advice on his trusty steed.

He had a feeling in his gut, that he had too longer nut.

Consulting his trusty forum, of which some members had lowered decorum.

An offer of help came from Pete, Old Cock. But Merlin was near Tavistock.

Merlins need was great, and was in a hurry. Oh what a bummer, Pete was in Surrey.

Well, you are no Pam Ayres, but I like the way you have made it topical  ;)

My go:

There once was a poster called Ron Deavy
who posted rubbish and made members peavy
his theories were trash
he winged and he gnashed
and pissed a top member into leaving

That should have some effect  8)

In Breganze they once made a twin
That Brettoni he took for a spin
He won at Bol d'Or, Oss, Monza and more
Laverdas were built plain to win.

There was an engineer named Red,
              Who, after reading this thread,
              Said to Maxine,
              '' Much to my chagrin,
              We're leaving for Laverdamania, instead!''

there once was a klipspinnekop        (slang term for an afrikaaner/boer)

who was partial indeed to a dop      (drink)

and when feeling dry

he would openly cry

for a couple of beers to go pop

i thought drikko might like to combine limericks and beer
