Carburettor on 750 GT slide information

Hi can anyone confirm the square slide in the carburettor, should the long face be closest to the engine or air filter? Thanks If anyone has a drawing of the carburettor it would also be helpful.

They can go in backward but will be way high- if it started it would rev its tits off!

I had a Duc single in once, the slide had been fitted the wrong way, was rideable but running very rich.
