Can some explain to me why my 3c runs a smooth idle cold or hot with all 3 the air bleed screws missing. Cheers
Dorking might be a bit far from New Zealand Clem.very often because there are more than the one single (tiny titchy) O rings up inside the bore, take out the screws that you can get at (ie left and right carbs) then with a torch and magnifying glass you should be able to pick out a spring a tiny titchy brass washer and one tiny titchy O ring, probably there is at least another, there should only be the one, all components are vital, when the chamber is empty squirt carb cleaner or brake cleaner into the hole, do this a couple of times five minutes apart, then squirt an air line with a rubber nozzle in there as well, re- assemble with spring, brass washer and new O ring onto the tapered screw, re-insert until you feel the screw bottom, then turn out 360 degrees then another 180 degrees (three half turns) that is a good starting point, but its probably very likley time to remove the carb bank in one piece and send it to Ducatti Paddy in Dorking for refurbishing, he is the best at this and supplies all parts either direct to you or incorporated in his refurb.
I bet this is not the problem even after my lengthy blurb, more likley to be cracks in the rubber balance pipes linking the carbs, run it like this and you will get holes in pistons.
