Cdi ignition bits

After getting a scozia/ignitech ignition and charging system fitted to my 77 Jota, the following bits are for sale as no longer needed, please see pics... note that a connection to the cdi box has had a soldered repair and I cannot vouch for its working ability...please pm me if interested, tried posting this on the ILOC forum too but couldn't work out how to attach the pics!

Hi Phil,
I'm about to embark on the same conversion. I'm interested in how easy you found it to fit and set up and what difference it has made to the running of the bike. Mine's a '79.

Hi Julian, the system was fitted by Keith Nairn (laverdascozia) so i cant say how easy/difficult it was to fit and set up, what i can say is that the bike now starts on the button every time and feels quite a bit more responsive throughout the range and will happily rev its nuts off. It also had a top end rebuild with new cam pillars and extensive valve and seat work which also contributes to the healthy feel of the bike...you should definitely notice a difference after you get a new system fitted though, and you will be able to ride with the lights on all the time if you fit the uprated 3 phase alternator.
All well worth doing IMO.

Thanks for that. Yes, I've spoken with Keith, but given that I'm down the opposite end of the country (Cornwall), it would be a major trek to get to him. Good to know that you've noticed a real difference in the performance, and that it allows you to keep your lights on (essential in my opinion).

Julian - I don't know if you have seen a set of Redax installation instructions, but they are available in the library. They are well written and illustrated. Certainly the kit is a worthwhile upgrade.

180 triple - Installation and adjustment of Redax/Ignitech 300 watt alternator & ignition system

An excellent upgrade to the puny OE Bosch alternator to avoid a 'flat' battery. Also provides a programmable ignition system to either replace the now aged HKZ system or get rid of the BTZ step change to full advance.
