How are the chromed steel arms extracted from the front blinker lights? Or put another way, how are they inserted into the plastic shells?

It looks like the arm should be loaded and removed through the front however it seems to be quite a bit too long. (and not bendy enough).

Should the arm screw into a nut (held inside the shell) from the side? Mine have the large hex head of the arm inside the shell.

Thanks
Chris

Thankyou for your interest. Yes a photo might be great. Internet is down here so I cant upload one of the problem.

Problem is to fit the old stalk into a new blinker light. On my bike the stalk is roughly 95mm long and it is notched for a 10mm spanner at one end and has a big 15mm hex bolt head at the other. The15mm end locates inside the plastic light shell and the 10mm end passes through a 10mm hole in the light shell, through the fork ear and into the headlight.

Problem is how to get that 95mm long stalk into the plastic blinker shell that's 62mm wide, poke it down 25mm and and guide it out a hole at 90 degrees when the diameter of the hole is as near as dammit to the diameter of the stalk. Clear as mud?

My maths gland is overheated and smoking but since Laverda found a way to do it.....  It must have taken them ages to figure it out.

Because they sell those blinker lights separate to the stalk some of you guys must have figured it out before now How did you do it?
cheers
Chris

Don't like solid stanchion flashers as they easily break and catch your clothing - Sooner user use flexible rubber stanchion turn indicators from an enduro or a dirt bike.

You can easily modify them for either 1157 or 1156 bulbs.

Why do you need to pass the whole stem through the indicator shell?
Simply screw the M10 end a cm or 2 into the shell after having fitted the special lock nut.
Then the M8 end passes through the triangular headlamp bracket and 10mm thick spacer, after fitting an M8 nut and washer to the stem.

I've put some photos here

From your comments Grant it seems I might have some non-Laverda blinker stalks. The hex bolt inside the blinker shell is not removeable. I can't imagine how it was manufactured that way.

I can slip the stalk into the new shell with the big hex bolt outside, much as you suggest, and use a removable locknut inside (to tighten against the big hex bolt outside). The only issue is the left and right blinkers will be different. No, I'll buy a second blinker and do them both that way.

Thanks all for your suggestions.

Hard to see from the close up photos but they do look like non-standard items.

In this photo you see the special M10 nut tight against the indicator shell, then the stem, then the M8 nut, then the headlamp bracket, then the 10mm spacer and finally the headlamp shell.
All these parts are available.
