Hi
Just got my 2 tr up and running after many years laid up.
It's got NGK B7EV plug's in it , running fine just wondering if they are correct
Many thanks Brendan

Thanks very much will get some ordered
Would you also know gearbox oil capacity where to drain and fill
Considering bike had not ran for 20 plus years ran nice running it on 32 : 1 fully synthetic oil would this be to rich or fine
Thanks again Brendan

The only thing that stops a crankshaft failure on a Chott is a trailer! (qouted from Phil Todd to Per Erik Ramstaad (Norway) when he asked Phil what additive would he recomend to at least be able to ride his (actually it was his lady Ase) Chott 70 miles to Harwich ferry and then 40 miles from the shipping delivery in Northern Norway.

Clem,

I've covered over 6000km on my Chott without the slightest issue. Had 3700 on the odo when I got it, clicked over the 10000 mark last summer. Only gripe is poor starting if it has been standing for more than a week. Engine still sounds healthy with no omnious knocks.

Maybe the secret is to not use max rpm all the time, every time. I've raised final drive ratio to make the bike a lot more enjoyable on the road and despite the road-oriented trailie tyres, it still copes well with muddy tracks and the occasional gravel road.

Thanks Piet
Puts my mind at rest I had read also that the later 2tr engine was more reliable Very nice bike with indicators. In the UK mine is registered in the historic class so no road tax or MOT so just insurance and ride

Hi Brendan, sorry for my late reply! I just realized that nobody answered your questions.
1.) The original Chott manual says to use a 5% mix from gasoline and 2-stroke oil - would be 1:20
2.) The screw for draining the gear box oil is on the left side of the engine behind the gear lever - see my pix!
3.) The screw for filling in fresh oil is on the right side of the engine - see my pix! The manual says 1.15 kg - would be 1,3 liter.
Ciao, Gert

My first years running 2 strokes only mineral 2-stroke oil was available and everyone ran 20/1 or 25/1. A few years later Synthetic 2-stroke oil became the norm and everybody ran 40/1 or more. That was Castrol. The latter type of oil produced much less plug failing as well. Make an informed decision, read the text specs on the oil you choose.

Thanks for all the information she's nearly there looking forward too the chott last Italian bike was my first a Malaguti cavalcone in 1979 that had a few reliability problems probably poor maintenance back then
Cheers Brendan
