Clock Bezel Straighten

Managed to dismantle and straighten the bezel on my rev counter which had got a bit "rearranged" in an accident way back in the 90s.
Was told it couldn't be done without specialist tools. In the end the specialist tools consisted of a pair of long nose and a pair of normal pliers.......and an unopened (pressurised)  2lt bottle of Coke with a micro fibre cloth over it which just happened to be exactly the right shape to re-form the internal bezel against

Better than 'Red Bull'............as they say "It Gives You Wind".
Number 2 daughter worked for Red Bull driving one of those minis with the can on the back, handing the stuff out, the garage was full of the bloody stuff! Wouldn't touch it myself!

Hi Ppuxley

Good photos but what did you do exactly, did you take the bezel off the clock. And did you use the base of the Coke bottle as a former?

Yes took the bezel off by slowly levering off the folded over back rim, once removed took the inner black bezel out and laid it over the top (not the base) of the Coke bottle (covered in a cloth) and carefully pushed the bezel back into shape. The bottle needs to be unopened/pressurised so it is rigid
To refix  the bezel lay the clock face down on a soft cloth, apply pressure and just work round  pushing the back edge of the bezel back over the clock rim.
This home repair works for Jota 120 clocks because they are fully enclosed in a plastic shroud. For exposed clocks- it might work but the refolded outer bezel doesn't look too clever. For that I guess you will need some sort of machine to roll it on properly.
