Club Laverda NSW CIMAA brekky run Sunday 11th May

First week of Winter, forecast 22c. Not sure if the 14 litres of water I will be carrying on my 3c tomorrow will work.
 
The panniers are rated at 5kg, I have 3 x 2-litre plastic water bottles in each. That's 6kg in each pannier, I want to see how that affects the new shock settings and sag. It now has one spring rate harder, and the high-speed compression damping is now 2 clicks off full soft. Some testing before the 12-day Snowy Ride this year. So up to Wollambi loaded and I will dump the water out and come back lighter. Best Goat track to test this on.
 
You could almost say it didn't actually rain, but it did a bit. When it wasn't drizaling, it was foggy with plenty of road spray. I didn't actually stop and fit wet weather gear, but what I was wearing is now pretty damp. BTW, never saw so many Moose people on motorbikes. Both Marty's sons rode, not an easy run for a very fresh beginner. He did great. I learned heaps from loading up the panniers, you cannot use the same SAG for starters, I was hoping it would cope. On typical bikes with 120mm of travel, maybe. On vertical shock Laverdas with 90mm it's critical to use as close to 1/3 travel as possible, or it bottoms or tops out constantly. The new slightly harder spring, combined with close to minimum compression damping, improved the comfort and bump absorption a lot. T32 Bridgestone Sports touring tyres work really well in the wet. Complete confidence, zero slides.
 
Woody is looking good for an old fart…. wonder if he is still as quick as he was when we, being Robberyman, Woody and I, rode together out front of the other CLNSW gang 30+ years ago 😳

Edit: With Robberyman riding around the outside of me on a way fast left hander, looking over with a grin like a Cheshire Cat off to concur Woody out front 😊

The older I get Chris, the faster I was.
 
I washed mine for the first time in probably 3 years about a month ago, after Sunday's damp ride, it again looks like it's been in the Daka. It doesn't help crossing my Croc Slide driveway, best done in one hit and with your eyes closed, hoping it doesn't deflect off the muddy rut you cross at an angle. All good fun
