Meet 8.30am at the BP servo North Richmond. Going up Bells, left at the Causeway, left onto the highway down to Blackheath. Turn right over the railway lines and down to the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms. They are not taking bookings, so first one there gets the best brekky! Now there's a challenge!

This runs sees us not crossing any LGA boundaries.

See you there
Marty

Love that 2nd pic, saddle up. Marty, I was thinking, maybe we might see if Dmto at Clyde has an interest in a club Dino day for jetting tests? I am keen to have mine tested. Those plugs look very white as I am sure you know, who finds any plugs white these days, Mine are usually black

Last SF I worked on had black plugs. They do look pale. 132 is very small for an SF, especially with a 2/1 Marty. Std was 140 and 145 was the safer bet. My SFC top end (5/C cam), 10.25:1 and 2/1 ran 180s.

Where was all the traffic, I have never seen The Great Western Hwy so empty and Bells was nice and empty as well. There was a nice roll-up of bikes and riders, it hard to have one without the other. I made a serious error desiding on the Smoked Salmon, nice but 2 mouth fulls of the good stuff and 80% lettuce doesn't fill a growing boy. Empty roads leading to one seriously pumping Megalong Valley, there was a lot of camping happening down there. Had some hair raising, figuratively as I had a haircut for the coming Snowy ride, moments heading up the Bells Line of Roads, why does every bushwalker in NSW own exactly the same small white 4 wheel drive that are used by the Mobile Speed Camera Arseholes and park them up just like Mobile Speed Cameras cars do along Mountain roads. Very nerve-racking for Law abiding Motorcycles to constantly see these cars about. I was happy to be wearing enough gear as it was a touch chilly up high. It was a pretty quick morning ride but even so, it still hurt after months off the bike. Must grit teeth for the coming couple of big days out of 4 heading to The Snowy ride.

It gets along Chris, very well setup bike. The Jota bars are pretty low though, that would hurt my back a lot.

Yep, another top ride this morning, met Brett at his place for a cup of coffee and then on to Richmond, ride home although not much traffic is still a tedious run, not sure why we always end up going home that way, it is SO borring.
Here are some pics.

Spotted this on my way to Bretts, sorry couldn't help myself...

5 1/2 redax motors tom. Hey Q, if those plugs where in my triple id be happy. Sitting on the freeway at 110, 3800 rpm, im using less than 1/4 throttle. This is not a race bike, dont think ive ever used full throttle. Doesnt the main jet only work above 1/2 throttle? The black plugs in the ohoto on the circumnavigation thread where 140 mains, 55 pilots. I might try going up to 135?

Quite so Marty re mains. But if you ever find yourself on a long hill at 1/2+ throttle in top it could be risky. Could see what raising the needle a notch does. 55 pilots should be fine.

Be interesting to see if you can retard the timing back from the factory 40 deg ... a lot of adv that is for sure, but don't know if modern fuels tolerate or aid a reduced max adv. Lee runs 32 deg on his SF racer after dyno runs gave good results at that figure. I'll be starting with the same on the Q.

140 was too rich, but about to fang around the snowy mountains for 4 days. Might be hard to tell from the photo, but plug is quite black inside, porcelain is white. Will err on the side of caution.
