I am in the process of rebuilding my Sf3 750 and just checking over the engine and I have a few question please? The engine has never been apart and has covered around less than 20,000 miles. Everything seems to indicate the engine is sound ( I bought it as a non runner) but I thought I would check the clutch and primary drive. All appear in good condition but I did notice a slight movement when checking the clutch basket. Should there be any movement at all? Or is a slight wobble acceptable? Also I read about changing the clutch rubbers as these fail? Can I check these without removing the clutch? If I do need to remove the clutch to check, is it worth changing the primary chain at the same time? Is it difficult to remove the primary chain and clutch assembly?
To be honest I am tempted to reassemble with new gaskets and oil and see how it runs. Is there anything that I need to look out for? Sorry for so many question. This is my first Laverda after years on and rebuilding other bikes!
