Clutch cable nipple lubrication

750 SF1 and GTL, same clutch cable and lever. I’ve been using grease at the handlebar end to keep the barrel nipple free to rotate in the lever slot, but the grease goes black very quick suggesting it’s maybe not performing as well as hoped. I wondered if cleaning it up and using a silicon spray would be a better option, easy enough to apply a bit of spray after every ride. Has anyone tried this, or found a better way to look after those cables?
Thanks

Grease is fine. I doubt that the colour change affects lubrication properties and you're not going to take silicon spray with you when you go riding several days, or weeks.

Rubbing Aluminium causes everything, including your fingers, to go black, similar to polishing with Autosol. I like to use Boat Trailer Grease because when boats on trailers go into the water gets washed away; the boat grease is more waterproof and lasts longer. I do the swingarm with it as well. They sell tubes you use in a grease gun; great way to do it.
