Venhill (UK) list a cable for high bars. High bar HD (For completeness, here's Low bar HD/std cables)

A DPO has probably stripped and re-tapped it to 10mm, leaving you with the problem.
Venhill will make a replacement, on request, but as a one-off it will be dearer.
Alternatively, you could slot the 10mm adjuster and trim down the 8mm, on the replacement, to fit into it.

It would make things easier in the future if a standard cable could be fitted. Could you fit a reducing bush with an M8 internal thread? You may need to go to larger than M10 for the outside thread and so far as I can remember the M8 thread on the cable adjuster is finer than standard. (1mm?)

Yes, definitely M8 fine (M8x1). Not a tricky job to maybe timesert the case where the adjuster screws in. Best done with motor out.
