Coil Replacement

I think that this has been raised before, but would like to check for an update:

Whilst I have the bike stripped, I would like to upgrade the coil.
(I am running a Saches ignition system and a Jel battery).

Electrickery is not my strong suit!
What specifically should I be looking for?
I believe that the two original coils can be relplaced with a single, lighter yet more powerfull item.

Can anyone please suggest either a good after-market item, or something suitable from another make.

Thanks
Dale

Dale's got a twin.

I use any old 3 Ohm primary jap double coil from a four, preferably Nippon Densos as used in the triples.  Have had all sorts of negative results with Andrews, Dynas etc, (not in Laverdas) but others will report otherwise. :D

You will need to check the necessary primary resistance suitable for the Sachse ignition though, only guessing it will work with 3 Ohm.

Sachse ignitions work from 2 ohm through to 5 ohm but Volker recommends 3 ohm coils normally.
Use TEK KP-03 single pole coils as found on numerous Jap bikes, Kawasaki 250 for example.
You will need two of them.

Is there any advantage in changing the original pair for the two you have mentioned?
I was hoping to reduce the bulk, and get a double coil as Piet mentioned, but performance will be the first consideration.

FYI

I've been in touch with Volker, (Saches Ignition), and he recommends one Dyna coil, Mini series, Duel output coil to go with his ignition system.
I have decided to run with that, and he is sending one to me tomorrow.

I've used Nology coils on my Ducati SS racer for 8yrs. no problem.I think they are made by PVL, they look the same. The coils used on the Hinckley Triumphs look the same too.
