A friend gave me a set of near-new Continental tires (ContiRoadAttack 2 front, ContiClassicAttack rear) in sizes (100/90-18, 110/90-18) that would fit a 750. He tried them on his Mirage and hated them, took them off and installed Pirelli Sport Demons, which is what I normally run. I'm not sure why he used 110/90 rather than 120/90 on the rear of a Mirage, perhaps that was part of the reason he disliked them. There's a lot of subjectivity in judging tires so I don't assume that I'd have the same reaction to them that he did. On the other hand it's a fair bit of work swapping out tires and then maybe swapping them back, so before I go to the trouble I'm wondering if anyone here has tried the new Contis on a Laverda 750? I could use these on a first-series SF or an SF1 with SF2 front end.

I have actually the second set of a ContiRoadAttack 2/ContiClassicAttack combination on my 750 SF2 but in size front 110/80 and rear 120/90.

Positiv:
- absolut perfect grip
- perfect on rainy roads
- handling is much more "modern"
- rear tire lasts 5.000 - 6.000 km
- you allways keep an round profile (if you don?t drive only straigth on the highway)
- even with an old Laverda and on normal roads you can get up to 1-2mm to the outer profile edge of the tire

Negativ:
- rear tire forms a little shed (?) if you drive very sportive
An 750 SFC-driver told me he got a tip from a Conti-stuff member to mount the tire in the wrong direction.
I will try that next time, maybe it works at our Laverda-tractor-pulling ;-)
- these "very sportive" tires are a little more sensible by wrong tire-pressure and bad stearing bearings than normal tires.

I think you'll find SFs are a lot more forgiving of tyre choice then triples. I wouldn't be too worried about the 110 rear - they don't run wide rims so that size will be no problemo for an SF.

Thomas, you don't mention whether the recommendation was to mount the front or the rear tyre 'backwards' ... or both!

The NSW Club president runs them on his 120s and loves them. I had a feel of the 1st set I saw, they feel like Velcro to the touch. Very taky, almost stuck my hand on them.

I am riding the Contis in 100/90 18 front and 110/80 18 rear (reverse mounted) on tracks. With the small wheels a perfect combination. Sizes of front and rear are in perfect harmony. Of course not for posers as you can?t hit the very outside of the tire except you?re able to stand 66 degrees.
For the bigger triples it will be better to take the 130 rear on a wider rim

Very interesting to see these varying replies. From my experience SFs with the kicked back original triple clamps don?t like big differences in tyre width so your 100,110 set should be fine. These tyres in CR compound dominate classic racing here now, up to version 3 and all are good. CR compound not advised for road use, will wear squared off very fast. Never seen one that needed reversing or blistered. Can we see a photo of the blistered tyre.

Reversing of the rear tyre is because it is a front tyre in 110 dimensions. Due
to its structure it was reversed for rear use. And because of the round silhouette
you won?t use 100% of the tyres surface.
Cheers
