Continental tyre availability?

I'm a little hesitant to open a tyre tread ... so a deep breath ... and here we go!

I use Continental Road Attack 3 CR's on my SFC1000.
I love how these 18" radials transformed the feel of the bike, along with the suspension mods I've undertaken.
And I'm pretty happy with 9000 kms out of a set of sticky tyres.

These tyres are hard to get in Australia.
And the Continental distributor has absolutely no idea, when the next shipment will arrive, but a wild guess is more than 6 months.
I managed to secure one of the last 130/80 R18 3CR's in the country, for the rear of the SFC.
So we are half way there, however I'm pretty keen on having matching F&R rubber.

So I've contacted a number of Continental motorcycle tyre resellers in the UK, and US to see if they can mail me a 100/90 R18 3CR for the front.
Lotsa emails and lotsa phone calls, with bugger all result.

My front tyre is now getting pretty low, as the SFC is used regularly.

Can anyone point me towards a know source of the Continental 3CR's, that might be happy to mail me a tyre?
A UK source would be preferred, as the postage to the other side of the world is cheaper than from the US.
But I'm not so fussy, as my $ is going towards a good cause.

Any assistance is most appreciated.

Even my tyre wholesaler here in Germany is out of those. This company is the largest regional motorcycle tyre supplier and is usually extraordinarily well-stocked, but stocks are running low right across the board.

Reckon many will have to bite the bullet and choose a substitute if they want to roll this season. Not only are stocks running extremely low, but prices for what's left have gone through the roof!

Thanx Piet
I did try Germany, but again drew a blank.
Nearest I got was a dealer in the UK ...'sorry mate, I just sold my last 9 Contis to 1 guy'.

I can offer no useful info really - I bought mine through Procycles in Hornsby, but that was about a year ago. I do agree that they are the ducks guts, as I also have them, front and back, on an SFC 😎

I just checked here with the mob here that sells them on the net, imports from Germany with free delivery, has doubled the price on them. A 130 is about €450.

Thanks for your contact lead, Kermit 1200.
I contacted Mytyres in the UK, and they do have stock.
However, ... as hard as I pressed them, they will only deliver within the UK, and not to Oz.
So back to square one.

Cheers - Steve

get them sent to me and I will send them to you
When I sent a pair of wheels (without tyres) to MT, the cost was 300GBP, the tyres might be similar.

Going to be hyper expensive. Are there no good alternatives? I saw some people started using Bridgestone's new classic race tyres, winning on them.

Thanks for the offer Clem.
I'll contact you directly regarding this.
I'm only after the 1 x front tyre, to match the new rear Conti.

The alloy rim I bought out of England cost me $400 including postage maybe 2 years ago, maybe similar weight. Let us know how the postage ends up, it will be a great comparison.

If you can get 9000ks out of a set of “sticky” road attacks get a set of Michelin pilot something or other, I dare say you won’t know the difference and they’re readily available, Levo?

I got Contis about 2 years back on the 79 Jota and am very happy with them but not so much I'd bother going to those lengths. I recall they were expensive even when they were in common stock in Oz, maybe 1.5 - 2x the price of the various Michy/Pirelli alternatives which to my mind don't seem much different. Each to their own, tyres and oil can be very personal.
