Converting new Dellortos to use old clamps - or not!

So I've got my old and new SF1 carbs together and my cunning plan to remove the clamping part of the old carb and graft it on to the new looks pretty much impossible.

It seems folks usually secure the rubber with worm drive jubilee clips.
I'm not so keen on the way that looks but I'm struggling to find an alternative.
I'd love to have clamps that look like the originals but the rubber is 58mm and those clamps are 53mm (plus I'd need another two)
I found this sort of clamp with an Allen screw - zinc plated they might mellow in nicely....but.....

...they are 20mm wide and the grooves in the rubber are 13mm.
So, does anyone know anything about the original clamps on the carbs ???
or
Does anyone know of a narrower alternative to the clamp above or something else that would like better than jubilee clips?

I don't imagine it would be cheap, but it should be possible to get some original (53mm) clamps ground out to 58mm. Replated, or not, according to taste.
hmmm....I wonder where I can get 4 of them from - I don't really want to alter what I have in case I find an economical way to repair the carbs.
I can machine the inside out without too much bother.
