Dave Carroll had his $3500 Taylor guitar broken by United Airlines.9 months of trying to claim he said he would post a song about it on YouTube,Uniteds response was "good luck with that one pal" it got 6 million hits (now over 12) and Taylor guitar sales soared so much they gave two guitars to Dave as a thanks.
United asked Dave to pull it off Youtube and would settle.Daves response was" good luck with that one pal" Hes since done a part 2 and three and a book!
LJ, that is funny ! But I have to admit that this is the first instance of "social networking" actually being beneficial to anybody I ever remember encountering. As someone who tries to teach young adults stuff that they're supposed to know I fight a constant battle against mobile phone AADD (Acquired Attention Deficit Disorder) in all my classes and in video lectures, so I may be a bit biased. But I have hundreds of anecdotes about why social networking is bad; good to see that there is another side to the coin.
Drikko, I actually hadn't realised I could get a single cheap scanner that could do both CDMA and GMS, both used widely here. And, it's illegal to sell or use any of them in the US of A "due to FCC regulations" (like the FCC gives a rat's arse ). But, if at some future time I happened to be located on another continent NOT entirely run by the US government, then I could just buy one, couldn't I? And nobody could tell me what to do with it?
Just made my week. But if I tell people at work about it and get asked to bring 150 of them back with me, that might raise some eyebrows at US Customs .
It is hilarious but i have to rain on that parade. That interview was part of a fantastic belgian TV series that takes the piss with things. It's not real, all of them are actors, they never intended it to be considered real. A bit like the UK version of The Office. Start of VERY lifelike and then add a weird twist.
Well Drikko, I was waiting for the really big waves to hit and they never did.
Should try living at Sandgate on the English Channel near me where until recently the waves crashed over the road - complete with pebbles to smash the windscreen or brain you.
Hugely interesting for the academic too: gravitation, fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, bio mechanics, the laws of motion. A wonderful demonstration!
