Cool Videos

Not sure if this of interest, but I thought it pretty cool.
Tourist boat operator purchased a 100yo paddlewheeler that plied it's trade on the Murray and had to transport it 1,700kms from Echuca to Longreach where it would start it's new life taking tourists on the Thompson. Video shows travelling through W Qld. (Luckily a bit before your trip Marty;)) BTW the Thompson is slightly different proposition to the Murray - a few ales while cruising down river, turn around to catch the sunset and back for camp oven tucker and bush poetry on the banks of the Thompson as night falls. (Well that used to be one option, even used to take own eskies)

Taking Opera into the jungle. Must have been 40 years since I've seen it.
Great movie. Pretty sure I once saw a doco on the making off. Truly bad conditions, couple of deaths, actors walking off etc.

 Yeh, yeh, fair enough Paul, chucking this one on the back of a truck was a relative snap, albeit with some slightly different rules and regs!
I just liked that someone would undertake such a move relocating something of this age and pressing into service commercially in another area.
Anyway, I like big trucks moving big things (unless I'm behind 'em of course;))

Here ya go, not one for those scared of heights.
Its the climbing over the stage planks at the top that get me.....FFS!

Even back then safety belts with safety straps had been around! with a horse bag strapped to the belt he could have taken his tools and lunch up to his work, saving climbing down and up again.......
