Corsa in Mittagong, NSW

3124 was a bike ordered as a Corsa but when its buyer arrived at Breganze for collection of his new bike and a tour of Europe, before crating for onward despatch to Aus, he discovered that they had built an SFC1000, while he had a long lazy lunch with some factory personel, it was converted to Corsa spec, 3173 and 3174 are very new additions to the list, there must be interesting stories for those two as well, until a few years ago 2891 was thought to be the last Corsa (Per Erik Norway) now there are three others, my own is 2888 or 2889, I cant remember which, but not all the body work is kevlar, so I assume that fibre glass items were made from the moulds when Kevlar supplies ran out. I wonder if the next one was all fibre glass, or indeed if any were!

Still at $17,500 but no bids. I'll be surprised if nobody grabs it at that, needs work for sure but seems pretty complete and original other than the pipes. Clutch slave nipple is sheared off, there's job #1... just go from there. :D

Hi Clem, I purchased #3174 about 4 months ago from a bloke in Brisbane QLD. It is an SFC1000 (Red with Gold frame). I am confident it has always been an SFC1000. The Bloke I bought mine off showed me rego papers going back to the early 90's and it was registered as an SFC 1000 back then.
I am interested in your comment above stating that #3173 & #3174 on the Registry are relatively new additions. I wonder who added those 2 "Corsa's to the list? It sounds like someone is manufacturing Corsa's!

Cheers

3174 does show on Laverda mania as a Corsa, so that is very odd, but then again there are two 1000's in existance, both showing 1012, very probably because the factory forgot to "roll on" one more digit at the time of manufacture, (one of them was previously owned by ex factory PR the Swedish expat Hans Blomquist) and "used" the number twice, yours is very interesting however, I take it you cannot go back earlier than "the 90's"

3174 is a SFC, there must have been a batch of them arrive in Aussie as we know of the following SFC 1000's here
3169, 3170, 3171, 3172, 3173, 3174, 3176, 3177
3175 is missing but can presume it is here in Aussie somewhere

3173 has always been a SFC 1000, is also red paint, gold frame, SFC fuel tank, etc

I have always doubted that conversion story because of (mainly) the SFC frame colour,
probably pub talk so as to arrive at having the last Corsa made.

so 3173 and 3174 are clearly SFC 1000;s JLO please note.

this goes back to what is 3124??? and maybe Per Eriks bike was the last one @ 2891

Eurotred imported 10 SFC1000 Series I into Australia and Max Eade 12 SFC1000 Series II based on interviews given to AMCN by both Frank Hodder and Max Eade.

Eurotred import arrived in June 1985 - 10 bikes (9 sold before arrival).
Eade became importer in Sep1985.
Eade import arrived in Nov 1985 12 bikes, 10 sold on arrival with 2 still available in Nov1986.

Two SFC's were used by Jorno's to test, #3170 (white Veglia gauges) owned by John Stanton and now owned by me. This bike has full records from purchase receipt and every service or part replaced. Mark Lennon's bike also also used (black Smith gauges) which was #?

Hope this helps on SFC 1000 history

I think I must have one of the last of Eades - 3208 with white veglias - original sale docket shows it was sold on 1/10/86 - sold without compliance plate and a note remarking that it cannot be registered (depending on state regulations), with reference to a bunch of parts. Cost was AU$11,950.

My Jota has no compliance plate. It was a Stanco plate, and the PO took it off to get the frame re-painted. He reckons his missus chucked it out along with a heap of his other possessions when they got divorced. He said he was lucky to retrieve the bike before she did something crazy like set fire to it. Sounds like she might have been somewhat dissatisfied with the state of the relationship.
Anyway, I still managed to get the bike registered on historic plates. The roadworthy inspector didn't even ask about the missing compliance plate. The bike still has the rivet holes where it's supposed to go.

I've got a Commodore compliance plate in my shed - no idea where it came from! Pop it on a Lav and tell rego it was a custom model they produced - the Laverda Commodore 750.

My RGS has no compliance plate either. Bought it of a bloke in Woy Woy, in November '91. He said it bought it off someone in Queensland. I think I'm the third owner. It has matching frame and engine numbers.
