Nicely done, can't judge if it is the right method to do it but always amazed about what people do!

By creating a slip fit he's removed the tendency of an interference fit to create unwanted stress on the repair. Loctite does the rest. Nice fix.

I assume the gear was heat treated at the factory. The silver soldering will have removed any hardness on the gear where it cracked. May not be a problem? If I was going to repair it, I would probably have shrunk a steel ring over the gear to close up the crack. Holding it on to the wheel with Loctite is fine.

On that note, probably could have simply opened it a little in the lathe Loctited it on, crack and all.
