Hope this posts up ok, it's a Picture of a Highway Patrol car parked across an Emergency Truck braking lane on a very steep descent on the Sydney end of The Putty Rd. This bloke deserves a big promotion for complete stupidity.

Thanks mate, it got posted fine on another site. My link failed here. I learned its from sometime in the past.

My older brother was doing his OE in Aussie in the 80s and he and a mate were driving somewhere, miscalculated the distance and got so tired they had to pull over and sleep for a bit. Eventually found a side road and almost immediately got the holden bogged down in sand. They slept first then dug it out, taking their time and cursing their luck driving into all this sand…
When he found out what those “side roads” really were he nearly shit!

It's pretty odd requiring crossing oncoming traffic but I guess it's all that's available as there are lots of cliff faces there. Not a major route the old Putty Rd these days, lots of bikes use it. BTW it's very close to my first major road bike disaster, Triumph Killer Hill. I melted a hole in my 64 Bonnie left piston chasing a 4-valve Honda 4 and an 860 Bevel with a hotted-up Desmo engine in it. As usual my stupid fault, I went from a twin carb head to a single carb but left the much smaller main jets in the carb I used, crazy stupid lean with big fist fulls and no idea was that marbles in a can sound was. Young and very dumb. Learn a lot and spent a lot fixing that fuck up.

I’ve seen a few examples of that, first cop car though. This one creates another issue altogether.

Imagine a 60 tonne truck hurtling down the hill, brakes so hot they hardly work. The run offs are well sign posted, giving time to assess the situation.

I doubt anyone would use the run off lane with a cop car parked there. That leaves no option other than keep going and take your chances, hoping what you run into isn’t a bus load of kids, or a bunch motorcycle riders on a club ride, or or or

Yep, stupid.
