Aqua blasting/vapor blasting great for appearance but should still ultrasonic clean & blow out w/ shop air to ensure proper running.
 
I have recently cleaned (restored) my new Lav500 carbs. I cleaned them with ultrasonic, then with lot of clean water, to avoid sulfatation of the strong degreasers of the ultrasonic bath, then dryed them with an air line. Then blasted with 80microns glass (round) without vapour, that gives this nice shiny appearance. Thereafter, another blow with air line, then a lot of hot water and air again to remove every possible rest of glass....

I am very happy with the result!

And by the way... somebody could explain how to adjust properly the acceleration pump? i read in the manual 5,5cl with 20 strokes... but how do you meassure them? or better said, how do you make the fuel injected to go into the volumetric glass without spoiling half of it on the way? I just don't visualize it...

How about Sonic Blasting with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol ?

Geeks blast their main boards and GPU's in this stuff to clean their electronics ! 
 
Couldn't you measure how much it takes in instead of squirts out? Put a mark on fuel line held vertical with fuel filled to the line (not attached to the tank), and see how much to fill up to the mark again after the 20 squirts. I won't get into the discussion as to the necessity of those pumps, I have no experience of them on the 500s.

Walnut shells, ultra fine grit, in a bespoke blast cabinet for electronic components!
 
I use "alltrans" which is a very mild phosphoric acid, mix it with water and soak the bits, it is made by the same people that make Swarfega, the hand cleaner, DEB.

if you don't have a measuring jug to measure how much to top it up back to the starting mark, you could put cc graduation marks on the clear feed tube itself. Or perhaps fix it to a piece of wood and make pencil marks on the wood. Basically build yourself a little manometer.

To work out how far apart to put 1cc graduation marks, you just need to measure the ID of your clear plastic tube and do a bit of arithmetic.
If you're mathematically challenged, I'll do it for you ...

Let's call the distance in millimeters between 1cc marks on your tube 'x', and the ID of the tube in millimeters 'd'.  Then:

x = 1000/(π x (d/2)2) 

(π = pi = 3.1415926 - that's as many decimal places as I can remember  :D)
The 1000 is simply to convert cc to cubic mm (because your measurements are in mm).

Or if you want to do it in an excel spreadsheet, copy the formula below and paste it into a cell. It doesn't matter which cell you past it into, as long as you put your measured tube ID in cell A1
=1000/(PI()*(A1/2)^2)

For example, if the tube ID is 7mm, the formula result is 25.98. So your 1cc markings will be 26mm apart. Your specified volume of 5.5cc for 20 pumps will be 143mm on the tube, so the vertical part of the tube needs to be at least that long.

Not without adjusting the carbs to different settings. Else, the mixture will lean out massively under acceleration. I would not recommend it for road use. For racing where you are anyways beyond the point where they spit in gas, it should not matter much.
 
Absolutely can't understand this, Lothar. Disconnected my pumps decades before i took it off the road with NO discernible difference to running on the street, in traffic, fanging very fast on open roads ... anywhere. How can something that only operates on the twist of a throttle have ny impact on acceleration beyond the millisecond that it provides ... how far does a bike accelerates in the time the pumps are squirting??
 
Yea, I disconnected mine (SF3) a year ago, adjusted the air screws, balanced them and the bike goes like a rocket. I was having problems with plugs fouling before, maybe setting the air screws helped. Reckon I'm getting better MPG too.
