I just read a post on the NSW Ducati page where it's been alleged 40kph road works signs south of Cann River on the Princess Hwy have been kicked over just before a Speed Camera car was set up, that's some coincidence.
 
Are the NSW camera operators a private company as in Victoria?

I saw a similar situation a few weeks ago on the South Gippsland Highway. Fortunately I spotted the flat speed reminder sign from my bike and also the camera car a few hundred metres further on. However, lower height cars would not stand a chance seeing the issue.

I noticed a lot of camera operator job vacancies in Victoria. I guess the motorist has to pay for all the new state government stimulus spending.
 
Macquarie bank had or has the contract for Mobile Speed Camera Cars in NSW, and they run the Kingsford Smith Airport as well. That's a bloody nightmare to boot, run to squeeze every shekel possible. The Parking Cops are like a Swat Squad. Running about with Cameras again
 
They use private contractors here in Tassie too. One of my yacht club mates used to do it for a while after he retired from his normal job. He'd come into the club for a drink and his mates would moan at him because he'd booked them for speeding. The usual complaint was that if the camera had detected one of his mates, he should delete their photo. He'd tell them that all he does is set the camera up in his car and then sit back and read a book. The speed detection camera operates automatically and he has no access to the system to delete photos even if he wanted to. The thing just sits there silently doing its job so he doesn't know who gets photographed and who doesn't. He said it was the easiest job he'd ever had - getting paid to read books.

Very much like my job. Sitting in an operating theatre reading. Unless the surgeon starts screaming, they often do, in which case you need to look concerned and reassure them.

I got through a lot of books in my career.

I was being prepped for an operation on my hand, to be done under local anaesthetic as a nerve block in my armpit. The anaesthetist used something like a TENS machine which supplies small electric shock pulses, to find the best place to inject. Nice guy, chatted all the time as he was moving the thing around my upper arm and my hand and fingers were twitching uncontrollably:
“And what do you do when you’re not being operated on?”
“I’m an electrician”
“Oh! Right. Err. Sorry about that. You probably don’t like this much. I’ll turn it down a bit. No, in fact I’ll turn it off, I think it’ll be fine….”
“Good!”
 
I had one of those nerve blocks in the armpit once when I'd severed a tendon in my hand. They repaired it under local anaesthetic. Weird thing. The guy shoved the needle in and my arm dropped dead and limp immediately.

Immediately? Mine took about an hour IIRC.
I was a bit annoyed that the surgeon wouldn’t let me watch. I was genuinely interested but when I craned my neck to see what he was doing, he had the nurse put up a little screen and told me sternly to lie still…
 
They tried something similar on me when they had to reconstruct the main joint in my wrist, with about 12 pieces all over the place - after a few goes I wasn't getting the numb thing happening and they put me under - I was glad, because when I saw the 'after' X-rays c/w the 'before ones, I asked how they managed to get it all so neatly back in place. The surgeon replied 'you really don't want to know'!! Nuff said.
 
I broke my neck, a few years later I started to have issues and had a nerve block in my neck, under CAT scan.
Worked as good as taking a 1/4 of an aspirin. The out of pocket bill was about 69,700 time the cost of the 1/4 aspirin.
