Hi .
Did the disks on a 120 Jota originally have zinc plated edges. I still have them on my bike but the edges are tatty.
Starting a total restoration so want every thing 100%. Any one recommend a zinc plating kit for nuts and bolts.

How are they supposed to rust if they're zinc plated?

They are cast iron originals but with them standing for nearly 40 years they have surface rust on them .looks to be some sort of coating on the edges, very thin probably just cosmetic.. so was wondering what it was.

I think it was silver zinc

Maybe ask Malcolm Cox - I believe he makes (or made) exact replicas, so has probably worked out the plating?

I have left them soaking in DEOX C and had very good results. That was a tip from Mr Duguid.

Read on Malcolm Cox's posting that they were Zinc plated.
