Do I have a genuine RGS Executive?

I am planning on selling my RGS 1000 Executive and before I put it on the market I want to be sure that it is really what I think it is.
It was originally silver when I bought it from European Cycles in Garden Grove California in the late ‘80’s and was just a few years old. I am the second owner.

Can anyone tell me what the second set of numbers on the headstock mean? There was a riveted data plate on the headstock that was removed when the frame was powder coated. The Oregon state police required a new VIN number be assigned even though I had the data plate on hand. Thus the second VIN number.

LAV 1000 RGS /1 *2332* is the original factory number. The "DGM" is the italian homologation sheet number. The Oregon number is most probably irrelevant in the RoW.

Frame was black on all RGS models. Reckon Executives were 50/50 silver or red, silver RGS are rare. Does it have the factory panniers and fairing extensions?

What does the original data plate read? Should state "Executive" as model designation. FWIW my Exec is #2320 so yours is in the range. According to JLO's registry all RGS production from approx 2294 through 2340 shows Exec:

various specific Executive identifiers, including the large underseat specifications sticker which will say "Executive". Also the original data plate. The rear fender extension, taller bars and Executive specific bar pad, plus the touring stuff, although the touring stuff could also be added as an option.

Yes, it has the panniers and the extensions.

Unfortunately the original plate is long gone.

The original seat is off premises, but I will check for the Executive sticker when I go to my storage. In the meantime, here is the bottom of the Corbin seat I bought years ago used from the Los Angeles Recycler: it looks like it was originally built for a “Tim Parker”. My guess is that is the same guy who wrote The Green Book….

I also have the taller bars and at one time I had the accompanying bar pad. However, I “loaned” the pad to Lance Weil “to pull a mold” and never saw it again! (A not uncommon outcome, I have since learned.)

I believe that Tim Parker did end up in the US. Andy J may be in touch with him. You can also find him on FB.

Yes, Tim’s in the states and I only mailed him a few minutes back in connection with research he’s doing on finding who the original owner was of his SFC750.

I have a nit-picky question for you: are the "Laverda" logos on your side panels alloy emblems or decals?

Bob, the “RGS 1000” is an alloy badge (same as RGS) and the “Executive” is a decal. I believe the decals are not available but got a pair of alloy “Executive” badges from Wolfgang should I ever need them. The Executive I have needs recommissioned, it’s stood for 20 years and has covered only 4,000kms. It still wears its original, very hard, Pirelli Phantoms, so I think the decals on my bike are as it came from the factory.

My Exec is low mileage & original as well and has the "Exec" decals on the side panels. I asked Wolfgang for replacements & he commented that most Execs had the alloy side panel badge & only early production had the decal-
