DPO strikes again.

Am slowly reconnecting everything electrical on the Project Formula Mirage and got to the stage where I thought could test all was working OK.

Battery connected - ignition on - green neutral light showing - so far so good.

Horn and indicators work, dip and beam work, brake light works  - but no side or tail lights.

So out with the wiring diagram and multimeter - 45minutes later Problem found.

DPO has fitted the wrong ignition switch, it is a two position rather than 3 position and has different coloured wires than on the wiring diagram (which I put down to being a pattern replacement) But when switched on it makes the wrong connections.

Ho Hum - Luckily it looks like the correct Suzuki switch with the correct coloured wires is available

Hi - the two position switch is used to switch ignition (and lights etc) on in 1st position.  The second position just switches the parking light on.

So if you have a switch with just one position, you need it to bridge the connection across two pairs of wires in your main loom - one is the ignition feed (orange/orange black - red), the other for lights (brown - grey).

If you can identify 2 pairs of wires that are separately switched on and off by your ignition switch, connect one pair to the ignition wires in the main loom and the other to the lighting wires.  You won't have the parking light facility, but who uses that?

That what I tried to do. but unfortunately the switch did not connect the four wires as two pairs but instead fed the live incoming red to two of the outgoing wires so all the power was fed through the red to all the other circuits and because of this everything was going through one fuse rather than two - hence trying to source the right switch.
