Dr John was a big part of the AMA Battle of the Twins in the 1980's. He was a Dentist with a penchant for motorcycle engineering, many of his modification/improvements were later adapted to factory produced bikes. Left side shift. Linked brake system working off the handlebar lever through a proportioning valve usually 90/10 front/rear.Very light and functional looking bike - note how short the tank is, how forward the saddle is .. compare with an SFC! Is there a footpeg/gear lever in that pic?
Early '80s had a lot going on in regard to chassis design and ergonomics.
