Drive chain length

My bike, a 1973 SF1, (in parts) didn’t come with a drive chain. I have a new chain, a 530, of 110 pitches (rollers). I have new standard sprockets - 19 and 40 teeth. The green book states that the number of chain pitches should be 106. Before I cut my chain, I thought I should check to make sure that is the correct number. Thanks.

fit it to the bike and do the cut with the chain insitu, use a 4.5" grinder to polish the heads off 2 rivets, knock off the excess and bob's your uncle, this assumes you do not have a chain breaker, much easier and no swarf to deal with.

Paul is of course correct though, any dealer should be able to supply in the correct length, if he can't he is not much of a dealer, but much cheaper to buy your chain wholesale and adjust the length yourself, makes buying a chainbreaker worth it's weight in SFC con rods.
