Machine was a Cat D in the late 90s / early 2000, for cosmetics only. New plastics were not available. Has been rebuilt and on the road since.

This is a really nice motorcycle with that great early Ducati superbike look.  Needs lots of work and a few expensive parts.
I have sold several laverda items on this forum inc a Palmelli SFC project. All persons were very happy with with their purchase.

PRICE. ?3000 firm. Very good price.
I need space for my newly restored 1981 BMW R80 G/S.
Buyer collects from Rochester Kent.

I will send pics via e-mail to interested persons. The bike is currently at the back of my Lock up.

Kind Regards,
Paul.

Duke 888 - NICE BIKE - Has Some Modern innovation yet enough Old School Engineering to work on her and more then FAST enough.

Might just work against a Suzuki 1100 Gizzeker !

I feel for you: "A Sad Bike to sell"

They will always sell FAST, for a Motorcyclist Enthusiast.

Heaven forbid a Duke 888 is not DESMO.

Granted NEVER owen'd one or ridden one; however, I like the specs ;o)

I really feel sorry for your interest in a Desmo - You got a long learning curve.

Granted they will beat anything within 500 miles but after that your down for a month adjusting Tappets to bring the RPM up to Par.

There's no such thing a Valve Spring in a Desmo - You got 2 cam lobes per Valve - One to Open and the other to Close and they are SOHC activated with a rocker arm - Thankfully the Ducati 888 don't have that.

I had 2 Ducati Desmo's. a 350 single and a 71 750S  - Believe my shit a Ducati Desmo is really different rehelm.

Out of all the bike's I've owned, I kept a  Breganzie 70 SFO to the last - My Darling _ You want to Race - Only in Canada ;o)

Don't sell it merlin, your regret it. I've owned a Daytona Racing for 20 years. Most people don't get it but i think it's wonderful.
Is yours still for sale?.
Paul.

You gotta to change oil out after every 500 miles with a Desmo.

Yes FAST for 500 miles and then SHIT happens with a Ducati Desmo.

Now you know why I kept my 1970 Breganzie Laverda 750 SF0 for my last ride.

A SOHC rocker arm square bore 750cc Hemi ride capable of doing 8000 rpm with fresh valve springs and big valves over and over again with open mouth square port Dellotos 30A's - Absolutely an amazing ride for a small engine ;o)

Hi yes its for sale ,at 69 the riding position is not comfortable ,but it is the fastest Guzzi I have ever ridden , mine has a 1225 Raceco kit fitted

Nice! I have an MGS-01 so I have a fair idea how your Daytona performs. 65 lbs/ft torque at 3500 rpm and it just gets better from there!

I dunno what Ducati you're thinking of Ron (maybe an 860 GT?) but the 888 was definitely a desmo engine.

My 888 even has Desmoquattro written on the tail....

IIRC the SS models had very weak hairpin type springs just to hold the valves in place - for assembly more than anything - the desmo sys worked very well if you did them right ... head off for best results and dead easy with no head gaskets required. Did quite a few motors back in the day and they weren't constantly going out as you imply Ron ... no worse than the cavity-prone SF valves suffering from the tappet screws running straight onto the stems.

All the bevel demos had some sort of spring, singles and v twins. At least they didn't eat rocker arms like the four valves apparently do today. As Q says, they were dead easy to shim up the valve clearance and the bikes just loved it, as head off usually involved a decoke and general tidy up. An enjoyable 8 hour day it was when we were paid by the charged hour.
