Just a quick public thank you to Paddy for resolving the tick-over problem I was having with my Ducrappi (https://www.laverdaforum.com/xf/threads/103440/)

Turned out not to be worn carb bodies, not a faulty ignition, not leaking manifold rubbers, but ...

Wind the mixture screws out 3½ turns instead of the regular 2, and put the idle screws ½ turn out instead of 1 turn and hey, we have tick-over!

Not perfect, but good enuf to at least be able to mount gauges. Which I will do once the weather picks up (with the bike kept in a communal underground garage, I have to do all running adjustments outside, parked up on a suitable side road o_O).

Don't ask me to explain ...

I know all about that problem.

Having established that it gives a good tickover at 3.5 turns out, its a sign its weak at idle so if you went up a size on the pilots say from 55-58 or even 60 you could then run the mixture screws at 1.5 turn out i would guess but to be honest if its running ok there is no real disadvantage to running 3 turns out, it just restrict future adjustment options if needed ie: you are not in the middle of the adjustment at present.

Ta Paddy.

I won't say too much here, this ostensibly being a Laverda Forum . But yeah, 60s are/were the factory fit and Peter (Clark) thought the same as you. So we upped them to 62s but without any noticeable effect.

The front is now running well at only 2½ turns out. But the back is leaking air when warm - it has a tendency to 'rev up' on a closed throttle. So I'm gonna start by changing the manifold isolator - I have one (but only one) - and go from there.

Once again - thanks.

The leak if its a leak will more likely be the black rubber manifold seal but if you spray some carb cleaner on it with the engine running the revs will increase if its leaking. 65 on the pilots is not unusual on 40 year old carbs. Remember most std setting refer to 4 star leaded fuels.
Most of what i have said is the same with laverdas as they use the same carbs.
