The ball bearings in the gearbox are reasonably cheap, so you may choose to replace them all as a preventative maintenance measure while you have the crankcase apart.

I've not worked on a 750, but I assume the gearboxes are similar to the triples, and have bronze bushes on the sleeve gear and other gears that spin on the shaft. The running clearances for those bushes are in the workshop manual. If they're within spec, you may as well leave them alone as they're a little more difficult for the home fettler to replace (you have to press them in and ream them to size). The sleeve gear bush is more likely to be worn than the others because it's always under load and, except when top gear is engaged, always rotating against the main shaft.

If one or more of the bushes need replacing and you don't have the gear to do it yourself. It doesn't necessarily need to go to a Laverda specialist. Any half decent general engineering workshop should be able to do it if you give them the running clearances.
