Dyno performance- actual readings

Lothar, it is 117hp at the rear wheel, that is the only figure we are interested in
the rear wheel touches the ground so it is the only figure that matters

ay Lothar.  i think we are all on the same page.

but speaking just for myself.
i am only really interested in the rear wheel torque (power).  'cause that's what does the work.

(bugga, the boss just beat me to it.  don't ya hate that)
  cheers,  Mark

Hi Red,
Might be interest in a pair of those custom stacks myself to fit my  Keihins.PM with approx. price.

If you decrease the internal dia.of the downpipes you'll move the peak torque figure down the rev range, unless you mean to reduce the dia.  for the last say 100mm? That would be interesting - wicked!

yea, i have an interest in velocity stack performance results.
some time ago, this was put up on the forum.
#9 looks the go?  it suggests a full 'roll back' works good.

<edit>  i guess it's also in the throat shape?  #10 works.
velocitystackshapes-02.jpg

so, it will be good to get some actual results.

Red, impressive results.
3:1:2 layout will only help at the top end I think, and only as a result of having an expanding area tailpipe. same thing can be done lighter with a single tailpipe.

Talk to your pipe man about trying a Cosworth style venturi at the tailpipe side of the 3:1 junction. I've used them a lot and they work to broaden the power band. I suspect they act as an amplifier/sharpener for the wave action. Experience with them says ID around 90% of tailpipe area and around an 8 degree taper on the outlet side.

Ok so my specs are

3kg off the crank
1145 cc
4c cams
Reds hand port
Ceramic coated head
Mikuni rs 36s
Redax ceramic coated big bore 3/2
There is more we could get from this motor, but its a road bike and its way fast enough as it is
The crank makes the big difference, its unlike any lav ive ridden before

interesting greg-my bevel 2-1 has the venturi as you mention-trev at ces is making me 2 (of different size) removable reverse cones to try out.this engine is very sensitive to minor changes-so as the cane cutter says-1 day at a time.i went to ces to replicate reds big bore 3-1-2 ,but trev reckoned he could do better with a 3-1(very light system) the man builds v 8 supercar systems and his motorcycle results are impressive so i went with the flow.reckon we are getting very close now-probably only another 10-15 runs to go :o 120 here we come

this has to be the first time Red has ever gotten excited about the number 120!

awesome results Bevelman!

this is how the redax crew roll

feel for Fred the dyno guy, every bike we put up on the dyno has the gearshift different from the last, is either left change, right change or race pattern change, we have him totally confused

:D
