early 750 primary tensioner questions

This tensioner bolt has snapped off in the the heavy rubber ? block.
1) Is this block a replacable part. Looks like I could bend back the tabs?
2) If I could replace could anyone recommend a suitable material ?
3) I,m sure its an original fitting but at least the wheel looks in good order ?
4) Could someone post a pic of how the part should look like. The GB does not have a clear pic
5) The double iwis chains have now been replaced which was maybe the problem along with running in the tensioner bolt
until it had nowhere to go
6) Other problem I,ve discovered on this bike is a very sloppy starter chain. Can you still get new ones ? Somebody suggested taking a link
out and fitting a clip etc but I reckon it would then be too short.
7) Any help/advice for novice appreciated

Replace the entire tensioner with the later slipper, it works better!

Failing that I can't think of a reason not to weld the detached dome part to the screw?

If you desperately want to keep originality I could possibly be persuaded to find the one I replaced from my American Eagle...

Starter chain is a loose fit, not known to wear out.

The Rubber becomes hard in the Past and should be changed.

Show us Pictures of the Sprockets
Clutchbasket and Crankwheel. It could be, they are not in god shape, when you used 2 single-chains as Primary.

Take a look to Andy Wagners Website,
there you can find a lot of Information and Parts ( to get Parts needs a while ).
Maybe Piet has Parts in Stock.

Dont shorten the Starterchain.
By a new one, its not expensive.

I,ve bought a lot of odds n ends from LP, but as you know are closed till june. Sent an email to Alberto but as yet
no reply, also tried to contact laverda scozia the past few years. Seems a lot of differing opinions on a triplex or two
single primary chains. It was two single chains on it already so that,s what I replaced. I want to keep original tensioner
for now. If I could find a new tensioner rubber I,d be chuffed. Clutch basket and crank sprockets dont look too bad
to me but will have wear being on the bike for 50+ years !!... they,re not hooked .

MUCH better idea is to use the IWIS duplex chain - discussed on here. Red uses them in his 130hp triple racers, I use them in my hotted up twin. I'd definitely replace the roller with the later slipper type. Starter chains are all loose - you will NEVER fit it if you shorten it! All it does is turn the motor at about 500 rpm, then it just sits there watching the motor go round and round (and a-rou-ou-ound ... John Lennon).

Q is spot on, that starter chain is like a sidewalk hooker. It just stands around smoking a cigarette while leaning against a light pole until a punter hits the go button. Then she only works until the vinegar stroke .,,, job done.

Opinions aren't on triplex or two single but on duplex or triplex.
As for sources of parts, there's plenty more than the ones you mention. All must have been named at sometime on this forum.

Old 750 GTs will do fine on pretty much any primary chain you fit, be it triplex, 2 simplex or the duplex variety. Wear differences on the sprockets are largely academic at this stage. Sprocket wear after 50-odd years is usually also pretty much negligable. Whatchagonna do anyway? NOS has largely dried up, the old stuff will probably do fine for another 20-odd years of occasional use. Things are definitely a little different if building a high-hp monster.

Pretty sure I have the required adjuster screw and the rubber block (if needed) for the tensioner in stock. I will be able to offer all 06B-size chains in DID quality, ie, primary, timing and starter, shortly. Clutch damper rubbers should be checked, these are also in stock.

As the tensioner wheel looks rather fresh, no issue wearing it out. Otherwise, retro-fitting the later slipper tensioner solves a few problems around the earlier version. This requires a different adjuster bolt again.

Drop me a line via DM if interested.

Thanks anyway mate, piet admin is sorting me out. keeping old tensioner as I can now get a new rubber and
the proper bolt. The new slipper may well be better, but the old one will still work
