Early triple tanks

I'm not aware the fuel taps were ever moved, Chris.

I have an early tank, '74:

The fuel cap hinge is to the front.

I have both '76 and '78 tanks:

Fuel caps hinge at the rear.
Fuel taps are in the same position on all three.
There isn't much flexibility in their position:
Forward, they'd hit the rocker cover. Back, they'd hit the carbs.

Never doubt a much experienced Sock, many the mile, a smile here.

However, the long badge tanks are wider at the taps than the round badge tanks, confirmed as measured here side by side, more than 20 years ago to better clear the the cam cover. Hope that helps. j

Thank you for the correction and clarification, Jon.
I know little of these new-fangled long badged Laverdas.

As Mr. Orwell would have it, in 'Animal Farm', equipped by Laverda:

"Round badges good.
Long badges bad."

The very early 3C petrol tanks, as fitted to the front drum brake models, have staggered petcock positions. The right hand tap is about 1” forward relative to the left side. These tanks are very rare now. I don’t know for certain but it’s likely the petcock positions were changed when Laverda introduced the manifolded bank of carbs.

Every day's a school day!

....or the factory oil dipsticks for the triples with differing high tide marks.... not oft being old and forgotten has true meaning in a life, oil dipsticks being one such reminder all is not faded, j

Both tanks are round badge. One of them fits both triples (SN around 1200 and 3000 respectively) but on the other one I can't fit the original taps, because they sit too far inboard and foul the cam cover. Since a picture says more than a thousand words - some more pics...
