electrical question

I am in the process of plugging everything back in on my early triple and am going to use most of the original wiring including the mutispade connectors in the headlamp, for those that know them there is a large connector block that has a direct feed from the red wire coming back from the ignition switch there are several looped red wires in this block that feed other circuits.
The other multi spade block has a brown wire coming back from the ignition switch that appears to be the only direct feed, my question is should the brown wire from the switch be a closed circuit once the switch is in the normal on postion or is it only the parking light function on the second switch position.
For the life of me I cannot workout how this terminal block gets power, as this brown feed from the switch is a open circuit in the normal run postion from the ignition switch??

Take care if your following the wiring diagrams from the green book,my block had a bit of melting damage when I first bought it.Removed the damaged wires and redid it.Only to see them melt again, they swapped colours between models. Its easy to use the wrong diagram and even easier to not follow it right, its not very logically lay ed out.

Straining the memory a bit Maurice. I'm reasonably sure that the brown wires have live feed from the battery and the red ones are only live when the ignition switch is on. So the job of the ignition switch is to make the connection between the brown and red. Brown and red wires from these connector strips go to the ignition switch for that purpose.

Hey thanks Cam I powered it up today and am still at a loss to see how the power gets there but it does.
Both sides need switching, but my next question is what does that diode do and can the circuit be used without it??
