Will this regulator work well with a dual coil alternator?.At word of advice before you do something stupid .

Props to Rob with a memory of some regard.

Should you parallel the two coils ( yellow to yellow et al ) run the risk of having unbalanced ( unequal ) output voltage from each individual alternator coil. Will result in one coil discharging output current into the lower voltage alternator coil, wasting charging current. By isolating the coils from each other in the second of the diagrams, you avoid the coils "seeing" one another directly and maximise the 7Amps from each coil into actual charging current.

Much depends on the air gap between the magnetic flywheel and the actual magnetic flux density remaining in the permanent magnet assembly, as to the lower rpm charging current. HTH j.
