Engine misfire

Today there was again the symtom I have sice years an I did not find the root cause.

Engine hase sometimes- not always- misfire issues. RGS, Witt DMC 2. It runs smoth but at about 4500 rpm ist misfires-sometimes not always but often. With higher revs its running fine. It happen in all gears. I thing it must be an ignition issue and not a carb.
Changeed almost everything sparks, connector, inspected cables, changed ignition modul of the DMC, one was sent to Uwe Witt for testing, no failure found, anyway I replaced it. Ignition lock I also changed.

The issue is most critical when overtaking  :D

Next would be change the coils and the hall sensor.

Any other idea??

Andre

My bevel did the same thing at 3K RPM. Turned out to be a small amount of corrosion where the coil grounded/mounted to the frame.

Andre, please carefully read the post I made here last July - very similar symptoms with my RGS, also with Witt ignition.
Finally found a fault in the sub-loom from the Witt box - replacement fitted, all good since then  :)

so quick answers, thanks a lot.
I do not think it is a fuel issue, if it would run to lean it also migth have tis issue on high speed were it needs plenty of fuel. I will check the connections to eath at each point. What in detail was wrong with the sub loom? I do no understand it in detail.
Thanks
Andre

Andre, the sub-loom is the section of electrical wiring that includes the large plug on the Witt box. Numerous tests finally traced a fault (probably a broken wire) to the live feed.

Alan :)

Thanks for your advises.
Today I made an other tour, no misfire.
What I did, mass connecting points controlled, dismounted, connection spray and mounted again.
Connecter of the wiring loom to the ignition disconnected, spray, dried an connected again.
Photo sensor cleaned.

Today all works fine- but because I changed 3 items I do not know the root cause. Anyway it is not so important as long it works. Will see how long, you know the misfire is only sometimes??

I also used a new air filter, not this paper style, Roger from OCT sold me a K&N Style cleanable air filter. The engine run like new especially at higher revs, almost like a gun :D

Hi Chris,
Do not understand wat you mean.
Do not see the clothes of the RGS when riding, just the grey line with circles in front of me.

Hi Andre,
I rode my RGS to Breganze last year - that was when the misfire began, so most evenings I was working on the bike trying to trace the fault (so its clothes were off :'()
Chris was part of our group that rode to Breganze.

Long live Team BFN 😎🍻🍻🍻
