Engineering solution sought!

hard to beat a solid tungsten carbide drill bit, have dozens off them

I used to get them from Boeing in Seattle. They were allowed only a certain amount of holes drilled and then they had to discard them. They used to sell them for about 2 dollars a bit. I had a nice set but it disappeared when I moved to my new location.

I'm back to using junk and cursing a lot.

Finally got this one sorted- whilst the engine is in bits. Took the lower crankcase to Hamlins engineering in Bridgwater where they set the case up in a milling machine- not all plain sailing as they broke a tungsten carbide bit on the broken drill that has been in the blind hole for over thirty years! They persevered with another bit and cleared the hole and fitted an insert. Great company to deal with & had it done in a couple of days.
I used to know one of the fitters in Hamlins called Cokey - used to knock around with him in the late 70s on our bikes when I worked on a farm in Fiddington - always good to see s company still running after all these years

They seemed very busy, mostly car cranks, blocks three people dropping off stuff whilst I was there. Fewer of these places left now and most of my trusted engineers have retired. Used to camp at Fiddington.

I had a disatrous 10 months with new BSA A75 rocket three, including "losing" the engine to a factory recall and then getting told the warranty was scrap because I removed the unit myself, it was knackered at 12,000 miles or so, got shot of it to a jock.
