After biting my lips, and calming down, here's my version. This guy posted on another site, that he'd just sold a bike, and was looking for a Laverda PROJECT.l contacted him, and said I'd got a Mirage PROJECT l sent half a dozen pictures and sent another five or six later, l also did a walk around video. These pictures were the same ones I'd sent to three other people who were interested, one respected member came to see it.The second guy, another respected member, gave me some excellent advice,'don't send pictures of all the 'good' bits, l want to see all the crap so l can assess how much I'd have to spend' The Irish guy and l, exchanged words, and he said, " l want a PROJECT, l don't want a perfect bike, l want all the dings and dents, scrapes and scratches, l want a PROJECT where l can leave it like it is, do up the engine and ride it around for while" l wanted ?4000, he offered ?3250, sorry, no. I'll up it to ?3500 he says. I want at least what l paid for it , which was ?3600. What's a ?100 he said, and we touched elbows, virtually on face time. The bike was running when l laid it up, but the starter motor was fried,of course l didn't ride the bike with the shocks undone, the simple explanation is that l changed the shocks to Nitrogen filled ones, because of my weight, and put the originals back on when the guy came to see it, l then forgot to do them up, l also didn't put the grabrail on , but I'd got it and sent it with some more bits, side stand, centrestand, and a new silencer that the end had blown out.(l also included two bottles of my homemade wine, which he didn't thank me for, it did taste like Camelpiss though, l must admit) This Project bike, had, a straightened frame, resprayed headlight, completely restored clocks, completely rewired, electronic ignition, aftermarket rearsets, bushman stand, and a powdercoated frame. This Project bike didn't have a starter motor, he knew that, how would l know the sprag clutch was toast if there was no starter motor on it? I don't understand his derisory ' pig in shit' comment, of course l was happy, I'd just bought my first Laverda, l didn't know the frame was twisted, how would l? Every person in the Laverda world knows how expensive they are to fix up, when does a PROJECT not become a PROJECT? When it gets expensive? I have been told, and it's been pointed out to him, that if he parted it out, he'd get more than ?5000 for it, in fact he's already asked whether anyone would like to buy his frame and cases.... After all the bile and vitriol that's been meted out to me, he's had the nerve to text me, ' when covids over, we'll have a coffee' OH NO WE WON'T MATE that's it for me, I'm done with Laverdas, and I'm done with motorcycling, the first bike I've ever sold,, as a PROJECT, and this is how it's ended. Anyone who knows me, know I'm a straight taking bloke, l have not intended to deceive, or tell lies, l told him everything l was aware.of, and he got a Mirage PROJECT at a fair price, l will leave the forum, I've not read much about this on here, it would just make me seethe. I'm truly sorry he's disappointed with the PROJECT he bought, good luck to him.
